Commissions & Pet Portraits
Carol works closely with her clients from concept to completion of the painting, bringing your ideas into reality. Whether you are commissioning a large or small, public or private painting, the process remains the same.
Some things to think about when commissioning a painting:
• What size would you like your painting to be?
• What colors should be included in the painting? What colors don’t you want in the painting?
• What paintings done by the artist portray what you are looking for in your personal commission?
• What is your deadline?

Once a decision has been made to go forward with a commission, Carol will send you a proposal for the painting. The proposal will explain what the commission entails, sizes, specific requirements of the commission, the cost and shipping charges, and due date if applicable.
Upon acceptance of the proposal by the client, a 50% deposit is required, materials will be ordered and work on the final designs and painting will begin. The client is involved in all planning stages with approval of the drawing/s, colors, etc.
When the painting is completed, the image will be sent to the client for approval. Once approved, the final payment is due and then the completed painting will be shipped to the client.
Pet Portrait & Commission Process
Using your favorite photographs or ones that Carol has taken, you will work closely with her when she creates the perfect composition for that unique painting or pet portrait.
When selecting your photographs, the quality and clarity of your photos is most important. Several, close-up, 4×6 or LARGER photos are desirable, in addition to the photo of the pose you wish to be painted. When emailing images, the larger the file the better – one per email at at least 200 dpi, 800 pixels on the longest side. The more photos you send the better. This helps Carol get to know your pet.
Please include specific details, eye color and any special markings with your commission request.
Once you and Carol agree on the pose and composition, a fifty percent deposit is required before she can start the painting process.
When the painting is completed, Carol will email a photograph of the finished painting for your approval, or you can stop by the studio, and the balance will be due. Including you in the process assures you of the perfect painting or portrait!
Carol’s goal is for you to be completely satisfied. Please allow 3-4 weeks for commissions – larger works allow 6-8 weeks.
PLEASE NOTE: The artist retains the copyright and reproduction rights on any image she creates. The image may be used for advertising or as a notecard, however she will not create giclee/fine art reproductions of your pet’s portrait.
Shipping & Insurance
The cost of shipping, packaging and insurance is additional and the client’s responsibility. For all paintings being shipped to the continental US states, there is a basic shipping/handling/insurance fee of $35. Depending on size, the cost of shipping may increase. Carol can estimate this for you at the time of order.
Most paintings are shipped FedEx Ground or FedEx Home Delivery®. There will be additional cost for FedEx services for packages over 70 lbs.; over 108″ in length and 165″ in length plus girth.
Single Portraits – head and shoulder view, matted & framed
image size 8×10 or 9×9 – $450.00
image size 9×12 or 10×10 – $550.00
image size 11×14 or 12×12 – $650.00

Multiple Animals in the Same Portrait
Add $75 for each additional animal. Multiple animal portraits are often best in horizontal format, and larger sizes.
