“Nonantum Resort Hosts Sunday Breakfast with Animal Artist Carol Santora”

September 2006

Tanner - private collection

Animal artist Carol Santora is the guest artist on Sunday, September 10, from 9 to 11 AM at the Nonantum Resort, Ocean Ave, Kennebunkport. Santora will be set up in the lobby doing a demonstration and available to discuss her work. She works in a variety of media including soft pastel, watercolor, and mixed media collage. Aside from painting local and exotic wildlife, Santora can often be found painting plein air at Cape Porpoise or at one of southern Maine’s lighthouses or farms. She also paints the ‘canine’ locals and accepts pet and animal portrait commissions.

Santora uses vibrant color to convey a sense of vitality in her soft pastel paintings. One of her favorite watercolor techniques is done on crumpled rice paper and has become one of her trademark styles. Santora says “Painting animals and wildlife is my passion, and my unique painting style is expressive of my own personal vision. I simplify my subject to capture its essence, and portray my subjects in intimate portraits and scenes in nature to bring the animals and wildlife within view of my audience.”

More of Santora’s work can be seen at her gallery on Fletcher Street in Kennebunk and on her website: www.carolsantora.com.

The Nonantum Resort hosts an artist every Sunday morning through October 15. The breakfast buffet is served Sunday 7:30am to noon, and Monday through Saturday 7:30 to 10 AM. Visit the Nonantum Resort on Sunday, September 10, to meet the artist and share in a unique artistic and dining experience.
